Shyam Nandan Sahay was an Indian landlord, educationist, legislator and the founder vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University Muzaffarpur. Born in the Indian state of Bihar, he also served as the vice chancellor of Patna University.
He was a member of the 1st Lok Sabha, elected from Muzaffarpur Central constituency on Indian National Congress candidature. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1957, for his contributions to education. A road in Muzaffarpur is named after him.
The college was established in the name of Padma Bhushan Shyamanadan Sahay in the year 1966 as an affiliated college. In the year 1990, it became a permanent affiliated unit of B.R.A.Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. It is imparting teaching upto Hons.. level in Science, Arts and Commerce faculties. The College has entered a good name in the society and the academic atmosphere including discipline said to be satisfactory. Good campus, well equipped laboratory, library and building location are the main feature of the college.
